Sharing on Android isn't working
R
Randall Uyeno
I used to be able to share to Capacities from Android, and easily create a weblink. It stopped working a while back. When I share from the Android share menu, it takes me to Capacities but just to my daily page, not to creating a weblink. It used to gives me a prompt to choose my workspace, then it would create the weblink. I must now copy the link, then open the Capacities app, then create a new weblink, and paste the link.
I'm on a Nothing phone 2 with Android 15.

Earlier today, I shared a PDF with the Capacities Android app, but it is just "loading" when I go to the web app. Clicking on it just gives an empty object.

Same thing happening again. Sharing to Android can't be trusted but instead I use share to Whatsapp => Capacities

Another Android sharing issue?
A
Adam Adam
This may or may not be related to the issue with creating weblink objects when using the sharing option in Android.
Essentially Capacities fails to reliably create a new page object when sharing stripped down, MD content of a webpage out of Markdownr.
Here is what happens:
The first time* you share content generated in Markdownr with Capacities, it (mostly) works as it should: a new page gets created and the title is correctly mapped. (mostly, because long content gets cut-off - see a separate ticket).
However on subsequent attempts, a new page in Capacities opens but nothing else happens. The only option is then to copy and paste the content and title but that defies the purpose and makes Capacities less useful than it could be.
Marking it as a bug as the behaviour is inconsistent and unexpected.
*First time = first time ever, after a reload following a force stop or after a phone restart.
NB, I will also raise a new feature request to add a native webpage strip down in Capacities - this would be superb!

Beth I don't encounter anymore problems with this. It is working fine now. Thanks for following up, I appreciate that!

Problem: Sharing Websites with Android App is unreliable
M
Moritz Selbach
If Websites/links are shared with Android app, often after Closing the opened instance of Capacities, the Weblink ist not saved. Sometimes the Weblink does not automatically load a title. Also it happens, that Tags are not normally selectable. All in all it is buggy and not reliable.

Same thing's happening to me... in September 2025! Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. All updated. What the hell, Capacities? The whole point of a note-taking app is to capture thoughts/ideas. This cripples my ability to do that. Welp, back to Evernote/Notion for me.

Weblinks is still broken

Does the problem still occur after updating to Capacities v1.49.4?

Luca Joos on v1.49.12 the behavior changed: Now, after sharing a webpage to capacities, it's opening the "quick actions" bottom panel without any option to create a weblink from it. Also the Capacities app still close completely after switching back to the web browser (instead of staying in the active app trail like most other apps)

Luca Joos you mean the one you download from the playstore? If so, that's what I'm using
Luca Joos
dju D: Hmm, that's weird. Is Brave your default browser?
d

Luca Joos Yes it is, I updated Capacities app and restarted it too without success
