search capabilities to link blocks

Would love to be able to search (in a fuzzy manner) for content within a certain block and link it directly inline instead of manually going to a certain block within its original object and copying the block reference. This would greatly decrease the friction of what is a killer functionality of capacities!

Ability to Insert Linked Blocks (other objects) within an Object
L
Lauren Reynolds
For example, if I am writing something and I think of something I'd like to reference or be able to see while I am writing, it would be amazing to be able to pull in a block/another object into the current object. So to further clarify, I have a Pages object type where I work on random writings and I have all my quote's or text references saved in another object type called Words. It would be amazing to be able to pull in a specific Words block into my Pages object where I'm writing for my own reference.
I have been trying to get around this by copy and pasting blocks but it feels pretty clunky and disrupts my flow/train of thought. Obviously there is the capability to link text to an object but it feels important to be able to link an object within another object natively, rather than copy pasting or back linking in a roundabout way. Anyway! I love capacities but have noticed this coming up a lot in my user experience.

Insert Block References

Given we have the ability to create block references AND search for text in block using the command menu, it would make sense to extend inserting links to blocks as opposed to just objects.
Currently If I need to embed or add a block reference to my open file I need to
- Open the command window
- Search for the block I want to reference
- Open the file
- Mouse over the block
- Select 'copy block reference'
- Navigate back to the open file
- Paste the block reference in.
I should be able to:
- Open the command window
- Search for the block I want to reference
- Insert the reference at the cursor position
OR
include block search in the insert link menu
- @{block text}
Doing this would allow us to rapidly search for or insert not just links to other objects but also to sections within those objects, either headings, groups or lists

Referencing *any* block using @

I was expecting that referencing
any
block would be as easy as referencing an object. Apparently, I have to go to that block, copy its block reference and then paste it where I want to reference it. This completely disrupts the chain of thought. Why not just trigger a global search when typing @ and allow the user to search for any block, not just objects?

Smoother Workflow for Inserting Block References
H
Hamza Numair
Description:
Currently, creating a block reference in Capacities requires:
- Selecting the block.
- Choosing “Block reference.”
- Manually pasting the copied reference at the desired position in another note.
While functional, this process feels a bit inconvenient and interrupts the writing flow, especially when working with multiple references.
Suggestion:
It would be more user-friendly if block references could be inserted more directly. For example:
Allow typing a shortcut (e.g., [[ or /block) to search and insert a block reference inline.
Provide an in-note search to quickly find and insert references without needing copy-paste.
Mirror workflows seen in other tools (like Obsidian’s block reference search) while still keeping Capacities’ unique strengths.
Why this matters:
Reduces friction and speeds up note-taking.
Encourages more frequent use of block references, unlocking one of Capacities’ core advantages.
Keeps users in “flow” instead of switching between selection and clipboard actions.
User Story:
As a user who frequently connects ideas across notes, I want to be able to insert block references directly (without copy-paste), so that I can create links seamlessly and stay focused on writing.

Exactly! Obsidian has this. It's frustating to manually copy the link and then paste it at the desired location. Is this something planned? Beth

Hamza Numair Also it could be a great update the possibility to choose the view you want to link it. Most of the times I want a inline link to the block and not the embed view.
Hope Beth has some update for this topic soon.

Link blocks

When you link ([[]]) a existing note it could be interesting to have the possibility to create link also to titles or subtitles of this note, instead of all note.

Any news about that? It could be a game changer

For inspiration, Obsidian lets you do link blocks from another page by typing [[page name^block]].

This is such a huge UX low-hanging fruit that I would probably pay for a Believer plan if it meant prioritising it.
