Would love two additions to the PDF object. First is the ability to highlight text and the second is a field in the right sidebar for notes.
Any chances??

Suggestion on PDF
O
Omid Jay
I was thinking about reading, annotating and notetaking on pdf. The way we can do in some other knowledge management apps like the ability to highlight in three colors and annotate and take notes that you could even make a reference out of the pdf you are reading. It could really help academics when they are working with Capacities.

highlight pdf

Hello,
it would be very useful if it were possible to highlight or underline pdfs that you import into Capacities.
At the moment imported pdfs are not editable so if you use them for study (for example) you have to open them with another application.
It would be useful to be able to highlight pdf texts directly from Capacities!
thanks!

Pdf can be improved 10 fold by implementing pdf++ (import this obsidian plugin features )

Capacities is an excellent tool for note-taking and knowledge management, but its current PDF reader could benefit from significant improvements to enhance usability and functionality. Drawing inspiration from the highly effective features of PDF++, I propose the following enhancements to elevate the PDF reading and annotation experience in Capacities:
- Smooth Scrolling and Performance Optimization
Currently, scrolling through PDFs in Capacities feels a bit laggy and not as smooth as other PDF readers. Improving scrolling performance for a seamless reading experience should be a high-priority enhancement.
- Advanced Annotation and Linking
• Enable annotations (highlighting, underlining, and commenting) directly on PDFs.
• Integrate seamless linking between notes and corresponding sections in the PDF as you scroll, similar to PDF++, for improved context retention and navigation.
- Dark Mode Compatibility for PDFs
• Extend the dark mode feature to PDFs. When Capacities is in dark mode, allow the PDF background to match this theme, reducing eye strain and providing a cohesive visual experience.
- Enhanced UI/UX for PDF Management
• Enable split view for comparing multiple PDFs or linking notes with multiple document references.
- Additional Features Inspired by PDF++
• Allow customizable shortcuts for PDF navigation and annotation tools.
• Include a toggle for inverting PDF colors for users who prefer a high-contrast reading mode.
• Enable search functionality with auto-highlighting of terms across the entire PDF document.
By implementing these features, Capacities can deliver a more robust and effective PDF experience, meeting the needs of users who rely heavily on PDF reading, annotation, and integration with notes. These enhancements will not only make Capacities a more competitive platform but also ensure a smoother, more enjoyable user experience.

PDF: Form field values not displayed
D
David Harks
A workflow I'd love to be able to use Capacities for is related to storing PDF forms I've filled out and saved for future reference. Unfortunately, the PDF viewer in the tool does not show the values from the form fields, so all the PDFs just show up as blank forms.
Thankfully, the values are still preserved, so after downloading Acrobat or Mac Preview can still see the values, but it makes keeping them in Capacities much less useful.

Hyperlinks in PDFs are dead after upload

PDFs often include hyperlinks to additional content on the web. After I upload a PDF to Capacities, the hyperlinks are dead. They are no longer clickable nor can I copy and paste the link. I would love for capacity to retain these links.

iOS PDF notes unreadable

Shawn Traylor
When viewing the notes for a PDF on the iOS app, currently the text runs off the screen (i.e., doesn't wrap), making the notes unreadable.
