Locations, mapview, geodata & gps

it's great Capacities uses experiential grounding of notes and built timeline (calendar, date, time) into the core of the system!
– would be even greater if the second basic orientational system of our everyday is also included: space & place!
I know this is rather in the idea section as it's about a dimension rather than a simple function.
– but I remember DayOne, DevonThink, even some Evernote-apps implementing geo-reference (including map-view & find-in-map) to notes. and it adds a whole new level of meaning & practicability!
think of fotos from trips; think of different notes to the same place, or: area! think of geo-referencing information, think of, where have I taken that note... all that!
I think a) this would be super useful woth such a versatile, multi-use/-dimension joy as Capacities; and b) it would also fit Capacities philosophy as it simply mirrors / complements the whole thinking around time & dates.
please consider :-)

Thanks for voting on this ticket.
We also love the idea of maps and location information in Capacities and it will be added to Capacities eventually. Nevertheless, we see many other topics to be more important at the moment, so please bear with us.
Feel free to vote and comment to stay updated. It also gives us a better idea of how important this topic is.

Another upvote for this. I have two specific usecases.
Planning trips, especially long walks, ala Craig Mod. https://craigmod.com/ridgeline/176/
I currently do this by making spreadsheets but it's finicky, requires switching back and forth between a map and a spreadsheet. Would be very nice for those to be the same. https://craigmod.com/ridgeline/115/
The other use case is a bit less important. I'm using Capacities to plan photo books and it would be nice to lay out my photos by location.

This would be very helpful. Right now, I'm tagging locations with town names and the state and it feels a little silly when GPS tagging is such a baked-in feature in so many other places.
- Automatically inherit the location GPS from any images attached.
- Allow manual adding of GPS coordinates.
- Map view and ability to filter by location.
- Be able to name the locations still like we do with places.

Integration with Google Maps

As soon we save a location in Google Maps, it must push that to 'Places' (Custom Object Type) with date & time.
Or if this can somehow be done (as we do that for Web Highlights)
This will surely help Capacities to be a Truly World Class Personal Knowledge Management System

Address property

I have returned after year of absence. In setting up a workspace, people/relationships are very important to me. One attribute of people is location with several types of locations. The documentation is a bit silent on property=location but an AI search suggests using several text fields. that is not a good approach.
Am I missing something? Is address a part of any product plan?
thx

Capacities docs and tutorial videos make it a point to highlight how immensely useful it is to tie objects back to a date or date range, because it allows for natural discovery of a wide variety of objects through dates rather than through folders / hierarchy. Place is equally fundamental to recall and equally valid as a starting point for traversing the object graph. Some information is more tied to space than time (a hike object, for instance) and some information can be understood differently based on entry point. For example, I may want to recall a meeting because it happened a year ago today or because it happened at the place where I am planning to go next week.
Put another way, I use the Map collection in my Apple photos app all the time. It's a way for me to find photos that I would otherwise never be able to within a reasonable amount of time. There is tons of information that I can only really index by remembering where it related to.
My homegrown taxonomy of location and place works for now, but it's limiting and somewhat cumbersome.
There are tons of exciting projects in the queue and I don't think this should leapfrog all of them, but the ability to associate content by place would be tremendous.

Insert maps in Places and put pins on it

The idea is to be able to insert a map in the object "places" and you can put pins on the map signaling other places or moments, that will connect to other links. I'm using the pluggin leaflet in Obsidian and it's very useful for me to create RPG campaigns. It's also useful to plan travels, or travel journals. I believe it would improve extremely the use of the object places.

I would like to see mapping references added to Capacities. I think it should be possible using the likes of Google Maps (but not a simple hyperlink, but more of an embed). Even better, an Object Property for Mapping would be ideal.
I travel a fair bit for my work and this would be extremely helpful. Furthermore, I have just returned from two mini holiday breaks, and as I make notes it would be great to reference visited locations.
The same applies to planning a trip. One could plan out an itinerary and use a mapping feature to pin desired locations to visit and/or accomodation destinations etc.

The notes heat map, similar to the Google Photos heat map, would be a terrific addition to Capacities' functionality. Imagine being able to open the map and see the headers of your notes (or even all objects) that you created while being physically present at specific locations.

Locations would really help with my notes/journaling. I've got meal/meeting notes that would be improved immensely by being able to tag either GPS coordinates or some kind of OpenStreetMaps or Google Maps integration.
