Parsing PDF content when searching

There is a feature is Capacities that allows you to search PDF content with ⌘F, but it works only if you open the PDF file object. I think that it can be really beneficial if, when using Search menu (⌘P) or extended search, the PDF would parse to. This might offer deeper integration of PDF content into your Capacities system. This will also be useful for users who import their handwritten notes from a tablet into Capacities. If text is parsed, key fragments of handwritten notes (titles, tags, keywords) can be written as text rather than by hand, making it easier to integrate such notes into the search for relevant information in Capacities.

Yes that would be very nice. One could also use capacities as a filing cabinet and find everything!

I know this is on the Road Map. But I really hope that this will come before the end of 2025. I have plenty of PDFs and Images, and as it stands I cannot find content in any of them. This is REALLY important during a search. I have used other Note Apps and several of them were great at finding content within the notes during a simple search.
Please prioritise this aspect of Capacities as doing so will make the platform a formidable tool and arguably the best on the market.
Thank you.

I am a University academic with many hundreds of PDFs currently stored in Evernote. This is a "killer" feature for me – being able to enter a search term and find a list of PDFs containing that term, before digging into the individual PDF. I've just started using Capacities and it seems a really good fit for me in every other way except for the lack of ability to search across PDF objects. I know it's on the roadmap and the sooner this happens, alongside the ability to bulk import, the sooner I will be upgrading to the paid version of Capacities.

I was a bit too eager and marked the ticket as 'in progress'. This feature will come in the foreseeable future, but we will prioritize the PDF object type rework first. This will provide a stable foundation to then tackle more advanced projects such as this one. In order to be as transparent as possible with the state of development, I am now marking the ticket as 'planned' again.

OCR of uploaded PDFs

Following the concept of objects in Capacities, there's an encouragement to upload PDFs as a core object type. Unfortunately beyond being able to link and view them there's no way of searching the content. This makes them a "second-class object" because other objects (custom and built-in) are correctly indexed and searchable.
Personally being able to search the contents of PDF documents would be a major plus point over the likes of Notion.

So happy to see this! This was my ONLY holdout to keep Evernote. Thank you <3

Yes OCR of PDFs and images and including them in the search would be great.
