OCR of uploaded PDFs

Following the concept of objects in Capacities, there's an encouragement to upload PDFs as a core object type. Unfortunately beyond being able to link and view them there's no way of searching the content. This makes them a "second-class object" because other objects (custom and built-in) are correctly indexed and searchable.
Personally being able to search the contents of PDF documents would be a major plus point over the likes of Notion.

So happy to see this! This was my ONLY holdout to keep Evernote. Thank you <3

Yes, good to know this is planned :)

Yes OCR of PDFs and images and including them in the search would be great.

To add to this, it would be great if the embedded table of contents was correctly parsed and listed, and even better if it was possible to link directly to a section or page of a pdf.

Quite happy that this move to planned. Yeah!

... just to be sure:
I hope this will also solve the fact that
embedded hyperlinks
in PDFs do not work...?!– or should this be a separate 'ticket'? – @ Steffen Bleher / michael_v_h

+1, this is huge for an Object based tool to become really useful!

Another vote for OCR on PDFs and images. Evernote, OneNote, and Bear 2 can do this. Craft cannot. This would be the catalyst for me to move from Craft to Capacities.
Can you talk about a timeline yet?
