Allow connecting to file storage to:
- upload explicit files
- embed files live into capacities (Google Drive)
- sync all files from a folder in your drive to capacities
- save automated backups to your drive

This is THE main missing feature that will draw me away from using Dropbox Paper instead. Even if I paste a Dropbox link, is does not preview correctly and does not open when clicked. It is just to cumbersome to download a file locally first, only to upload it again to Capacities. This would be a game changer.

Similar to Coda where you can embed Google docs/sheets and play with it within Capacities - Please!

Wow, this would solve all the "where should I store it" problems for me. Sounds wonderful as described.

As an alternative drive, I would like to propose Filen.io
I know most people use GDrive or OneDrive, but also a lot of us are here exactly trying to detach from those big platforms. Filen recently published their SDK integration documentation and I think this opens up the possibility.

That should also include the iCould and other self hosted storage and syncing services.

I personally use pCloud and I would love for it to be added, but it's very rare an App/Software make the integration possible. So maybe a WebDav Integration as a beginning ?
I very much agree with Michael Pilgrim on October 14, 2023; having access to all my files #LIFE from Capacities and in the same way, by liking my Cloud of choice would be priceless.
Because of health issues I need to save and write Everything down, my life is on a pCloud Drive, accessible from everywhere, and shared with my Partner. But since I'm a folder/categorizer perfectionist, when I have to find a file, I need to go down every nested folder I created to the right one /!and remember it!/, by then, if we need to move files to different folders at the same time you just found the dead end on productivity of nested folder organisation. I'm dreaming of having all my Cloud accessible in Capacities's way. Every files linked to a contextual note.
To be honest, that's one of the reason I'm learning to code, since nobody is re-thinking the way we save our data, I thought I could do it at some point. xD
I mean.. we're in a digital world with every possibilities open to us, and we still use drawers, binders, file folders to organise our DIGITAL files. It's crazy.

I'm not 100% sure what I have in mind is covered by the existing description/comments, but I'd like to be able to embed not specific files but embed a folder view within capacities. Use case: my projects have associated files stored elsewhere that I'd like to see a list of embedded within the project object in Capactities.

Merged in a post:
The ability to add a link to a file for the "Files" object

Right now, the app has a restriction where a single file added to the "Files" type object can't exceed 100 MB. This means if I want to include a file larger than that, I have to resort to adding a link to Google Drive or a local file link. The problem with this is that it ends up in the Weblinks object type, which doesn't align with its actual object type. It would be really useful if there was an option to include both local files and files with links to external storage services directly in the "Files" section, instead of being limited to regular files under 100 MB.

I've often thought something like google drive or even finder on Mac would be better organised with something like capacities. As in, all the files and folders in a Capacities style database with tags, links, views and collections etc. That would be amazing if you could do that (without us having to upload or attach files manually)
