Desktop App
complete

App for Mac and Windows with better support when your internet connection is not stable. Full offline support is currently not planned. Nevertheless, we work on making Capacities offline compatible, meaning you can work with it while being offline: Creating new content, editing existing content that is loaded, etc.

Super happy to share that one of our most requested features is now available to everyone. You can download the app here: https://capacities.io/download-app
If you want to read the release you can do this here: https://capacities.io/whats-new/release-16

If the desktop app is being developed using Electron, can I hope that a Linux version can be considered as well. Electron is cross platform as far as I understand.

Will it have a quick capture feature? something like a global hotkey that shows an input that adds the text to the daily note or creates a new type
This would be amazing and would complement nicely the other integrations (like whatsapp and email)

Is the app going to be using Electron or something similar? If so, hopefully something more like https://tauri.app/.
What's the estimated release date for this, because the estimate listed is long past.
Steffen Bleher
Alexander Kim: We are experimenting with different frameworks. Currently, we are quite happy with Electron. Having an eye on Tauri as well.
The desktop app is in beta testing currently. It works very well but we still have issues with the updating process. That's the only reason we didn't release it yet. We are working on it.

The comment above is confusing. If creation and edition is on the books, that sounds like pretty complete offline support. What functionalities would only work online?
Steffen Bleher
Stefan S.: We will soon do a survey on offline support in the community. People have very different ideas of what offline means. We'll use better terms then and also draft an outline on the offline support.
Features that will for sure not be possible: Scraping of weblinks, large exports of content, complete full-text search.
