Can't search by exact phrase
M
Michael Jasper
It seems that I can't put a phrase in quotes and search for that exact phrase. Is that really not available or am I missing something? I tried searching for a two word phrase in quotes which means something very specific, but I got every instance of either word - even related words with different spellings. Surely this is a fundamental search requirement? Is there a different syntax rather than quotes?

INCORRECT SEARCH RESULTS

Search for word 'feet', search results also show similar words highlighed 'feel' or 'fees' or 'meet' etc.. why when there is no connection, except that they are spelt similar, it does not make sense and messes up the search results, please please can you fix, thank you.

Improve search specificity - too fuzzy

Michael Jasper
Currently, if I type Nick into the search box, it pulls up neck, sick and kick-off. Putting quotes around Nick does nothing. I appreciate the option to have fuzzy search, but I rarely want this. This makes searching almost useless, which is very disappointing because one of my main reasons for abandoning OneNote was the awful search capabilities. At bare minimum, I should be able to search for a specific word or phrase without Capacities pulling up everything remotely similar.

Same experience - I assume it's meant to be "fuzzy" search, but this should not be the default - this should be an option (at best). I'd much rather have search that actually finds what I'm looking for rather than guessing for me.

At the moment, there's no additional search syntax for exact matches. But we add this to the improvements ticket for search. Thanks for sharing.
