Bundle objects types in groups

When you have more and more object types, the navigation lists become very 'messy' and disorganized. It would be nice if we could group related objects together.
For example, I would like to group the object types Expressions, Proverbs, and Sayings under the category (group) of Languages."

One month with Capacities, my sidebar has already become not easy to navigate at the first glance and I feel too pressured to not create new object types and clutter the bar, although I really need those separate types. I've never experienced this with other apps.
Would be a game changer being able to just group these object types in the sidebar the way I want

Lexie Sanders: Totally get your point. We want to add this and will try to find a good spot for it on our roadmap soon.

Here is a different take on a particular case of bloating of the object list: https://capacities.io/feedback/p/implement-some-kind-of-preferred-hierarchy-scope-namespace. In this case it's the result of the accumulation of obsolete object types that were relevant in the past and you still want to keep but "archived". I see this as a consequence of the more general problem of not being able to flag a relationship as "belongs here" and the preference for flat, global lists. I give other examples but not at this "meta" level but on the more familiar ground of pages.

As silly as it sounds, the ability of grouping in the sidebar, is what's holding me from switching to Capacities. Am I the only one having these kind of problems? :)))

This 100%. I would also really like to have the ability to "tidy" my object sidebar. Particularly hiding away the "administrative" auto-objects such images, files and PDF.

USE CASE EXAMPLE FOR OBJECT TYPE GROUPS
Nick Milo (from the YouTube channel "Linking Your Thinking") divides information into three categories:
A.C.E.
- Atlas: library of knowledge, notes, etc.
- Calendar: notes with a time attached to them, for journaling or meeting purposes, for example
- Efforts: projects, series of tasks with a deadline
The grouping of object types could help implement this system:
Section 1: Atlas
that which is pure information and knowledge and can be used as a resource
- Notes, Weblinks, PDFs, cooking recipes, people, quotes, etc.
Section 2: Calendar
Basically the database of daily notes and other notes that need a time stamp/property
- Daily Notes, Meetings, Journaling, Braindumping
Section 3: Efforts
Projects and things we need to finish or track, which have a deadline
- Personal projects, professional projects, as well as media (books, movies, series), tasks, etc.

Divider and a group function would be great. For example I have a typ "Locations", "Citys" and "Countries", I would like to create a group like "Places" or something like that.

That's definitely a good point. We'll be exploring some possible solutions for this! 👍

Right now it's easy for the left menu to become cluttered as the number of objects increases. Having the ability to add divider bars could be an easy way to visually group different object types without having them hidden away into folders.

In order to not clutter the "tags" list, I am currently using a number of custom object types for other taxonomical matters. I also have custom object types for various specific uses. This has however increased the number of object types massively. It would be helpful to be able to group object types in the sidebar for easier navigation. (I am currently using ==HEADLINE== named object types for this purpose, but this is a workaround at best.)

I would also love this feature. But if it's somehow against the principle of Capacities to add a folder-like layer above objects, I want to suggest this:
Currently we have 2 sections in the sidebar, "Pinned" and "Objects", which are both collapsible.
How if we can add custom sections? and then for each object type, there is an option to "Add to section > " then choose the section.
That way, the "Objects" section will stay as an unorganized list of object types. There should be no modification on the data structure (just my guess). The sections are just lists of shortcuts instead of folders. It also means very possible for an object type to be added in multiple sections.
