I changed the text to yellow. A few hours later, when I tried changing it back to the default colour, the icon indicated it was already set to default, even though the text was still yellow. I tried switching to different colours, and that worked, but when I deselected the colour, it reverted to yellow, and the painting icon showed the default colour.
