Allow saveable views based on layout, filter, and sort criteria

Similar to Notion, users could have the ability to create the views that they see fit for their content and give them custom names. For example: I don't need to see table or wall view for my links and I know I want a custom view where all of my links are grouped by the projects they are associated to.

We are super excited to share that we launched queries. With queries you can now save your views and even embed them on other pages. You can read about them in the latest release: https://capacities.io/whats-new/release-33

Agree this should be the approach instead of "Collections" but rather a Collection should be a "Filtered View" that I can save. I'm already tagging entries with data (and those tags are super-useful for seeing how things connect) so to ALSO have to put those entries into a collection is redundant.

This feature would be so handy. At least to be able to save filters!

This could probably be merged with Smart Queries (https://capacities.io/feedback/p/smart-queries-to-collect-content-based-on-rules) if they are exposed as Blocks.

Ability to Rearrange Sort Priority Order

Right now, the priority by which views are sorted can only be adjusted by deleting the previous sorts and creating the new order from scratch. I'd love to be able to just add the new layer of sort to the list and have the ability to "drag" it to the level it should be.

I'd also love for these views to be potentially embeddable into other views. (Again, to reference Notion, this would be similar to how linked views work.) That way if I have, say, an Organizations object type, I can pull up a filtered list of related People objects who are associated with that Organization.

Already now you can reuse a collection, for example, and change the view (it will only persist on that local version). More coming soon.

Steffen Bleher: I think this feature is so important. This should replace "collections", which now seem like a very isolated item in the system. They are static and clumsy. The more advanced version of this is to have views, like notion.
In fact, Collections even go against the whole idea of a "flat" organization (instead of hierarchical, which is the one reason why I moved out from Notion. But I really miss the saveable views.
For example, now I have a bunch of Items that I have labelled as "Finished". Yet the keep appearing in my main view. The way I can "quickly" have an overview of the projects I actually need to focus on is to label my finished projects under the collection "finished", and unlabel them from the collection "on progress". After that I have to go to my collection of "in progress". That's a lot of unnecessary work.
I could also filter out my finished projects, as I use a tag for those finished (in parallel to use collections). But then everytime I want to exclude the "finished"projects I need to create a new filter.
In any case, the project projects I finished, the more messy my Capacities becomes. This could be solved by having "saveable views based on layout, filter, and sort criteria"

Pablo NP: no, i don't think this replaces Collection. Database> Collection > table view is better. Because Collection is a kind of hierarchy data

Pablo NP: collection is a group of filters while view should be more details, like filters, columns order, sorting

I love Collection in Capacities, but I also love table view in Notion. So we should combine them
